from the start, i knew it, yes i did

lmc-tv studio blue

christina appears tonight like a musical maelstrom, melts down my axe, throws down the jams, and gives us this fresh summer jam (it was over 60° F here in ny today). it is called 'from the start'.

lyrics below the fold, lots of news very soon now......

'from the start'

sure it's a sweet deal, if you're asking me
but i am an idiot
the village idiot
spin the wheel and land on 'free spin'
2nd times the charm!

swing them hips you're a pro you're a go-getter
a.d.d. is my achilles heel
i think if i could stare at the picture for
a long time, i might see it move

promise you won't laugh, but i gotta be honest
up front, sealing nothing behind
these lips are sealed
like an elephant
i remember everything baby

come to the forefront you are a star now
bonafide beautiful banana
if you have 5 oranges and you take away four you are left with one

from the start i knew it, yes i did

time is not our friend

this is 'small small windows'

and this is 'double down quick'

these are for all you time-travelling euro-trash girls scattered 'round out there - come home soon, we miss you.

lyrics below the fold......

'small small window'

so great
i travelled time, but time is not my friend
so late
i arrived but arriving alone isn't what's it

all we have is a small small window
to make sense of what we don't know
the things that we would like to...

thursday
i swear to god i thought that was it
slowly
count the days i've missed sleeping them away
fairly
certain all that karma gets you in the end
but really
some could escape
not a bruise on their body
must be luck

all we have is a small small window
to make sense of what we don't know
the things that we would like to...

~~~
'double down quick'
see you coming up for air more lately
see you seeing things in parallels
see you chasing ideas down drainpipes
and i see where that's gotten you
see you out of context to the punchline
see you fishing compliments with ease
i see you feeling sorry when you find out
you see where it's gotten you.
doing it well
means you double down
quick
the drink's on me, if you even make it
make me proud, or pass by
see you living vagabond-like
see you playing
see you playing joker cards
see you seizing in your steps babe
i see where that's getting you
i saw you let go for the last time
i saw how good it made you (not)
i saw more than you did let on and
i see where it's gotten you.
doing it well
means you double down
quick
the drink's on me, if you even make it
make me proud, or pass by
like bananarama for the oughts
it's the hot bitch arsenal!  hide the booze!  the keys!  the kids!
fun pre-hba trivia fact: christina and kim once opened for debbie gibson! really! those were heady times, the 90's, they were.
now we're in a decade without a name. i'm in league with those who prefer 'the oughts', as in 'the hot bitch arsenal is like bananarama for the oughts'.
the 'sitp' mixdown continues - here are new mixes of you bet i will and all along the chilltower
make yourself a dang quesadilla
my god, it's full of stars! (2)
i love my guitar. my guitar lets you switch into open tunings by pressing a pedal. my guitar could kick your guitar's ass if it was that type of guitar. but it's not. instead, it makes things like this, which i will call 'make yourself a dang quesadilla'. if you'd like to make yourself a dang quesadilla start here.
occasionally christina will incorporate my song titles into her lyrics. i find this to be quite thrilling. examples include 'you show me the way' and 'all along the chilltower'. sometimes the names of the songs i write are quite obvious. tonight, less so. i thought of using 'don't cry for me, orangina'. but i settled on 'make yourself...'. we'll see what christina comes up with.
thought criminal
i love it that my phase shifter of choice has an 'earth' button. i don't know what it does, and i'm scared to touch it. i'm figuring that it doesn't turn the earth on or off, or swap the north pole for the south. if i had to guess, i'd say that clicking 'earth' will transport me there.
this is a little ditty tentatively titled 'thought criminal'.
christina & timyo are away for the weekend, so i'm restocking the hba strategic groove reserves.
the envelope please
have you ever seen a finer pair of ewers?
this is (windows media) video of christina's performance of 'ghost' at the semi-annual towne crier open mic finals sunday night.
she won.
there were smiles and celebration.
runners up were a fine fine duo from nj called causeway - check them out.
this is called pandora. if you like music, you will like pandora.
and that is why i am her bitch
think about it.
here's how it usually works. i loop late into the evening. if lucky, one or two jams emerge. the next evening (early, cause she goes to bed when old people do) christina shows up. her rider states that she is to have headphones, fresh blank paper (any sort), and a half-hour. she scribbles, jots, she draws little stick figures. i hit record. two or three takes later we have a song. i don't know how she does it. no one else i've ever worked with does it like this.
the nearest thing i can compare it to is a 4-d crossword puzzle. cause it's all about the words, fitting them together, working out melodies and syncopation in her head. i watch carefully, sometimes i review the video (just in case she's cheating somehow - tesseracting off to 2046, hanging out for a week on the beach, leisurely checking futuristic cyber rhyming dictionaries, then popping back to the studio to lay down the track).
but this isn't a movie and she's not like you or me. and when the words come out they smile at their new neighbors, happy to find themselves next to each other, and secure in the knowledge that they belonged there the whole time.
hanging with abbott is like hanging with dali or da vinci or picasso, and that is why i am her bitch.
you show me the way
you show me the way
happy new year. may it find you safe and sound, and surrounded by loved ones.
our last jam of ought-five is here.
listen in good health, probably best to enjoy this one after flying down to san diego and renting a convertible. (here in new york, it is snowy, white, clean, fresh and cold)
bonne année
