make me proud to pass by

this is a soundtrack for the short film in which the triplets of belleville meet beck at the casino in monte carlo and jam, gamble and gambol.

or perhaps they caper, frolic and cavort. rollick? romp? skylark?

in any case, it is called 'double down quick'. longtime readers will recall this, our first recording of 'ddq'. time flies, the hba refines.

we're super psyched about the gig 11/9 @ red square. if you are anywhere near albany, you'd best be there.

happy birthday, me.

happy birthday, me. (cake and photo courtesy of stina-yo).

and, the hba itself has a birthday coming up! we'll be one year old any day now.........

i see you comin up for air more lately
i see you seein' things in parallel
i see you chasin' ideas down drainpipes
i see where that's gotten you

i see you out of context with the punchline
i see you fishin' compliments with ease
i see you feelin' sorry when you find out
and you see where it's gotten you

doin' it well means you
double down quick
the drinks on me
if you ever make it
make me proud
to pass by

i see you livin' vagabond like
i see you playin' joker cards
i see you seizin' in your steps babe
i know where it's gotten you

i saw you let go for the last time
i saw how good it made you not
i saw much more than you did let on
baby i see just where it's gotten you

doin' it well means you
double down quick
the drinks on me
if you ever make it
make me proud
to pass by

wouldya check out the arsenal on that hb?

karen poleshuck and her weapon of choice joined me in the studio tonight. we made you this long (15min+) jam, the last bit of a much longer jam, all spontaneous improvisation, using just a cello, some drum loops and ableton live.

it definitely has movie soundtrack written all over it. in the movie, jimi hendrix blows lazy blue smoke rings over the strings of her cello as karen plays, turning it at times into a sitar, and later a french horn, and at the end into a chorus of merpeople.

speaking of choice weaponry, if i had one of these i think i might be able to initiate, and possibly maintain, world peace.

shall we render, miss moneypenny?

dn-1-1504-miss-moneypenny

i've had my moneypenny forever, she's kind of a basic model, perhaps a bit stodgy, but (to me) quite the hot bitch nonetheless.

nebulae went all out when he configured his, he got all the options, plus the custom lara croft coachwork and the max-sass rom module.

i imagine their checklist going something like this:
nebulae: (sauve) sick beats?
moneypenny: (sultry) check.
nebulae: (idly flicking a mote of dust from his lapel) majestic strings?
moneypenny: (adjusting her thigh holster) check.
nebulae: (thanking the fsm for thigh holsters) boldly cinematic in scope?
moneypenny: (over her sunglasses) most assuredly.
nebulae: (suddenly concerned) proper bits of delay throughout?
moneypenny: (calmly) check.
nebulae: (insouciantly) shall we render then, miss moneypenny?
moneypenny: (unbuttoning, pressing [ctrl]-[shift]-r) absolutely. rendering at 32 bits, 44,100 kilohertz.

the 'nebulae's lament remix' of 'failure' is here.

listen loud, on decent speakers or with good headphones. trust me. unbelievable production, majestic just begins to describe it (the strings!), christina's vox is lovingly layered throughout, she is at the top of her form.

you will want to hear more nebulae/hba remixes, so show him some love in the comments.

worst. president. ever.

fuck off, bush

if you feel safer under bush, you're a moron.

finally, this is beyond debate.

find the key, go down to the basement, and release your starving, shivering, half-clothed intellect from the deep dark place you've kept it these last 6 years.

gonna argue with me? gonna invoke the name 'clinton'?

moron.

marine gen. james l. jones (the u.s. commander for europe): the war in iraq is a "debacle"

general sir richard dannatt (head of the british army) "the continuing presence of british troops “exacerbates the security problems” in iraq."

baker's panel rules out iraq victory. (yes, that would be baker, jimmy baker, former secretary of state under daddums).

want more?

before 9/11, bush, rice, rumsfeld, and ashcroft were repeatedly warned of the impending attacks. they did nothing. (and stop it already with the 'no one could have foreseen'. of course it was foreseen. it is moronic to pretend otherwise.)

on september 18, 2001, christie todd whitman, flanked by rudy guiliani, told all those families that "the air is safe to breathe", move back home, go back to work, go back to school. (as if i need to say this: absolutely disgusting, sociopathic behavior)

katrina.habeas corpus.north korea.torture.iran.body armor.israel.lebanon.syria.domestic spying.plan b.afghanistan.stem cell research.climate change.health care.

for a bush supporter to question anyone's patriotism is simply pathetic.

spread the _word_

only election fraud or martial law stands between these guys and impeachment.

go here to tell chris wallace to ask rice about the u.s.s. cole.
