it's progess in motion ;-)

'fade in, fade out - (the progress in motion mix)' can be found here (with psa) or at the street of aimes (without):

why do we make 'feel good' music about the end of the world? we were talking about that during our last session and couldn't come up with an answer. we are both quite convinced that the world is ending right here, right now, right around us.

maybe we're like the band on the titanic, playing every song like it is the last one. actually, i want the gig on fhloston paradise, or at the restaurant at the end of the universe. (nice douglas adams interview re: his radical atheism here)

in any case, 'fifo' is probably just the right track to listen to on the lifeboat, as your ipod's batteries wind down, and the remnants of man's folly sink quietly off in the distance. ;-)

Fade In, Fade Out (Progress In Motion)
I feel broken when I’m getting fixed.
There must be a name for it,
The feeling that you get when it’s done.
Maybe we are molecules, bouncing ‘round a vestibule,
Running out of atom fuel.
Running out.

Your guess is as good as mine.
And you’re just as good as the next guy.
You pull along.
And you pull the plug just to watch it all…

Fade in and then fade out.

Surrender all your weapons please.
And don’t forget before you leave
To put your sense of irony away.
Case we are hunting rabbits down,
And chasing after random sounds.
Millions for the war for now.
Don’t worry about it…

Your guess is as good as mine.
And you’re just as good as the next guy.
You pull along.
And you pull the plug just to watch it all…

Fade in and then fade out.

Word to your moms.
I came to drop bombs.
But came back instead to a terrible calm.
In the eye of the storm you can see far enough
To know that the shift in the wind means it’s tough
To turn back from the front of the line forming now.
And I look for my friends in the increasing crowds.
And I’m listening for answers but it’s too damn loud.
It’s progess in motion. Progress in motion….
Ocena’s receding behing a big shroud.
From the flashing of cameras,
The in and the out.
Can’t get good reception
From CO2 clouds,
Fading in, fading out…

sippin' on some severus

christina reminisces about her time at hogwarts (she seems to be quite familiar with a number of the bedchambers therein) on our latest track.

apparently, she acquired a taste for some kind of beverage there called 'severus'.

it's quite a thirst, actually.

listen here:

or download here

the amie street version is psa-free. and, for the next 24-48 hours, it will also be 'free' free ($).

we'll put together a special hba gift pack with lots of fun stuff from new york for the best 'sippin severus' fan vid you guys submit.....

my call?: harry dies. voldemort doesn't. snape is good. hagrid dies (but is resurrected at a key moment). harry's scar is a horcrux, but it doesn't save him.

Sippin On Some Severus -

Severus
Can you make a potion for me?
Let me be the one who will wash your hair,
Try on all your clothes when you’re off chasing down a dragon for Dumbledore.
I can’t see which side you are on.
I am just so blinded by love for you.
I do admit that Lupin is hot,
If you’re the kind who’s into the werewolf thing.

But all my love is for Severus.
All my time is for Severus.
All my love is for Severus Snape.

Severus,
Baby, baby put down your wand.
Let me show you a brand new magic trick.
I stole it from the book that you let
the Potter Boy borrow throughout Book Six.
Baby yes, I know you are bad, but deep down in your heart is a teddy bear.
Deep down is a boy who is hurt and scared.
But baby, I can make you a man.

All my love is for Severus.
All my time is for Severus.
All my love is for Severus Snape

Severus…..
Lupin, he meant nothing to me.
He is a good man but my cup of tea
Is sipping on some Severus.
And we fit together like water and gillyweed.

All my love is for Severus.
All my time is for Severus.
All my love is for Severus Snape

how do you get what you are?

we've got a crazy new piece of gear in the studio - basically a black box, you run your audio through it, there's 2 dials and a switch. usually i don't go for this type of stuff, i'm trying to jettison gear in order to get our traveling rig down to a motorcycle-friendly size. _but_ this friggin' thing is amazing. forget vacuum tubes, forget $5k microphones, if you mix music, you need this thing.

first out, i ran an old abbott tune called 'aces high' through it, setting the dials to '1994' and 'london', and the delusional war-mongering president switch to 'off'. return your regret is what emerged, all loaded with oodles of massive-attacky goodness. unbelievable.

then, practically on a whim, i cued up 'failure', setting the dials to '1965' and 'haight-ashbury'. the switch clicked ominously as i flipped it on. this is the unadulterated result, i'll call it the 'summerlove' mix.

that's guitarist oscar sanchez on colors and shapes.

'failure' must be working, i'm seeing far fewer 'w' stickers these days. the original 'nebulae's lament mix' of failure is here.
